Whether or not you're planning on encapsulating your placenta, you can still have placenta prints made!  Placenta prints are done on heavy watercolor-stock paper, which can be framed and will last for many years.  They typically look like a "Tree of Life" image, because of the pattern of veins and the umbilical cord on the baby's side of the organ.  This rich symbolism is something that resonates with many families, and capturing their baby's placenta in art is a lovely way to honor that.
